Job Opportunity – Paralegal


We are searching for a Paralegal – someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide legal support to the General Counsel in the Legal Department, the Manager of the Legal Department, and other attorneys with contracting needs, with a primary focus on supporting the contract review and approval process, including drafting contracts, management of the workflows, coordination of documents and obtaining signatures. Duties will also include performing legal research and writing, drafting of policies and procedures, intellectual property docket management and other duties as directed.


Essential Functions

  • Upholds the values and mission of the Tandem Hospital Partners family
  • Performs first review of contracts and other legal documents being handled by supervising attorneys
  • Coordinates review with other departmental personnel and THP departments, as appropriate
  • Prepares legal documents for review and approval by supervising attorneys
  • Handles work flow associated with contracts, including execution
  • Assists with drafting documents and educational materials
  • Uses legal research providers and the internet to research legal issues, as requested
  • Drafts memos to internal and external clients under supervision of attorneys
  • Performs cite checks and shepherding of legal research performed by supervising attorneys
  • Produces letters, memos, reports and presentations in a timely fashion, ensuring accuracy, professional appearance and adequate quantity
  • Communicates and directs outside counsel, as appropriate and requested, on projects
  • Keeps legal files current and in good order so they can be retrieved easily
  • Takes on legal projects and tasks as requested


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Paralegal Certification
  • Three (3) years of paralegal experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with contracts in a corporation or law firm
  • Knowledge of contract law and legal systems
  • Experience in legal research, West Law and/or Lexis Nexis
  • Knowledge of health care laws and regulations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to multitask, possess excellent interpersonal skills and possess the ability to work with all levels of internal management and staff as well as outside clients and vendors
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance which may involve the comparison and evaluation of possible courses of conduct and acting or making a decision after various possibilities have been considered
