Job OpportunityRegional Staff Pharmacist

The purpose of this position is to ensure the consistency of pharmacy related duties and responsibilities across several hospitals. The person in this position would also offer guidance and be a resource to local Administrators, Physicians, nurses, and other clinical personnel within the local market. This position would provide accountability and a point of contact for Corporate Director of Pharmacy. The Regional Pharmacist will act as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) and is responsible for the oversight of several pharmacy departments including operations, finances, regulatory compliance and services in conjunction with hospital policies, standard practices of profession and state and federal laws.


Essential Functions

  • Must assist in development and operations of pharmacy services within assigned market. This includes planning, build out and implementation of pharmacy services in multiple locations.  
  • Oversee pharmacy regulatory readiness
  • Timely acquisition, renewal, and maintenance of pharmacy related licenses
  • Participate in interviewing other pharmacists – within the market
  • Ensure the appropriateness/accuracy of policies and procedures related to pharmacy
  • Assist the purchasing and finance departments in inventory management/cost containment
  • Onsite visits to hospital locations to ensure consistency
  • Assist with the implementation and training (as needed) of pharmacy related systems (i.e. Automated Medication Stations, EMR, etc.)
  • Maintains and demonstrates accurate first-hand knowledge of professional pharmacist practices and techniques compounding and dispensing medication in the proper manner
  • Works with nursing to maintain specific policies and procedures for the appropriate administration of medication to patients
  • Ensures formulary is current approved
  • Collaborates with Medical Directors
  • Conducts and/or ensures medication verifications are completed by a Pharmacist on all medications given to patients per regulatory requirements


Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Pharmacy or a Pharm D degree
  • Five years’ pharmacy experience
  • Experience directly supervising employees in a pharmacy setting
  • Two years’ experience with electronic pharmacy management systems
  • Demonstrable proficiency with computer software

Travel Required

Will require travel to various hospital sites across the market

All work hours must occur within assigned hospital(s) unless approved by direct supervisor.
