Job OpportunityManager Compensation and Benefits

 

With general direction and minimal supervision by the Director, Total Rewards the Manager will provide counsel and direction on a wide variety of compensation and benefit matters. Contributes to the design, development, execution and communication of THP’s total rewards programs, tools, policies and processes. Conducts internal equity reviews, measures external competitiveness and ensures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. Provides guidance and assistance to less experience HR personnel.

Responsibilities

 

Essential job duties

 

  • Provides oversight for all benefit and compensation programs, including the day-to-day administration.
  • Researches and stays abreast of best practices in an effort to develop proactive approaches and creative solutions to support all benefit and compensation plans and programs.
  • Participates in benefit and compensation surveys, analyzes survey data to determine THP’s market competitiveness and subsequently recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Completes special projects and studies as assigned which may include the redesign of existing benefit and compensation plans and programs, the development of new programs, and the completion of ad-hoc analysis that outlines observations and recommendations.
  • Liaise with HRIS to ensure all appropriate employee and benefit/compensation data is updated and reports are available.
  • Liaise with HRIS in developing and implementing appropriate web-based applications to support benefits/compensation administration.
  • Prepares and makes oral/written presentations and communication materials for all levels of the company (HR Department, employees, managers).
  • Stays abreast of regulatory compliance changes, and leads the analysis, development, implementation, and communication regarding any such changes.
  • Serve as the key benefit/compensation liaison with third parties (e.g., benefit broker and vendors) and stakeholders (e.g., IT and Payroll departments).
  • Participates in meetings to describe, explain and respond to questions concerning various benefits and compensation programs as needed.
  • Assists with processing inbound/outbound carrier files, ensuring files are properly and timely loaded into Company’s and various vendor’s systems. Troubleshoots/completes root cause analysis on file errors and resolves in a timely manner.
  • Ensures all compliance notifications are properly distributed and distributed on time, for all benefit and compensation programs.
  • Partners with providers and vendors to ensure proper, accurate, and timely benefits and compensation administration.
  • Continuously improves operations, decreases turnaround times, streamlines work processes, and works cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless customer service.
  • Ensures all benefit/compensation invoice payments are made timely and correct per contract terms.
  • Responds timely to inquiries received via mail, phone or email.
  • Ensures benefit and compensation related information posted on various company intranet sites are accurate and up to date with the latest information.
  • Lead analysis to support competitive benefit and compensation plan design and control to include external benchmarking industry trends and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement processes to ensure compliance in benefit and compensation design and practices.
  • Assist in developing metrics to measure impact and results of wellness/benefit/compensation programs.
  • Support effective communication of plan information to the organization
  • Develops and documents procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Coordinates with HR Business Partners to educate managers.
  • Assistant project manager in the planning and execution of the annual open enrollment process. This includes determining key dates and deadlines, drafting the communication plan and materials, testing new tool enhancements and ensuring all employees experience the best possible experience.
  • Researches employees’ and dependents’ “escalated” questions/claims regarding benefit programs.
  • Continuously audits data provided to benefit vendors (manual/automated file feeds), and reconciles all file feed errors timely, to include the following but not limited to:
  • 401(k) plan – employee source and deferral percentages, loans, etc.
  • H&W plan – employee’s enrollment in correct plan, conclusive dependent data, proper benefit deductions from payroll, correct FSA/HSA annual contribution amounts, life insurance EOI limits/approvals, etc.
  • Leads annual 401(k) plan audit, ensures audit is completed on time with no delays.
  • Ensures employee new hires, rehires, and terminations are properly and timely enrolled/terminated in applicable plans.
  • Leads the completion of all required testing, reporting, filing of Plan 5500s, etc.

 

Non – Essential job duties

 

  • Provides backup support for HR Analyst job responsibilities during paid time off, etc.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and at least 7-10 years of benefit/compensation experience.
  • Benefits related experience - working knowledge of benefit plan analysis, benchmarking plans, benefit plan re-design, annual open enrollment, 401(k) testing and audit, and implementing and re-designing administration processes.
  • Compensation related experience – working knowledge in job evaluation, data acquisition and analysis, survey completion and analysis, job description creation and pay policy interpretation.
  • Experience with the cloud-based software, UltiPro, strongly preferred.
  • CCP, CBP, PHR, and/or SHRM-CP certifications strongly preferred.
  • Additional HR or financial analysis experience working in the health care industry strongly preferred.

  • Fundamental working knowledge of compensation/benefit concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with an understanding of core HR business practices (HRIS, Compensation, Benefits, Recruiting, and Shared Services.)
  • High level of analytical ability.
  • Exceptional business acumen, oral and written, and interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with all levels of the company. Ability to interact with people at all levels and communicate ideas and concepts in a clear, professional and understandable manner.

  • High level of proficiency in the use of computers, software programs, and MS Office suite including Excel (advanced level – pivot tables, advanced formulas and filters, etc.), Word and PowerPoint; knowledge of HRIS systems and processes are very helpful.
  • Ability to interpret and apply HR/benefit/compensation laws, regulations, policies, and practices.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and apply good judgment in interpreting and applying policies to problems.
  • Knowledge and ability to work on large-scale complex projects that include multiple strategic goals and tactical tasks.
  • Knowledge of needs, goals, deliverables and interdependencies of other functional departments.
  • Advanced knowledge of compensation tools and programs, job evaluation process, and salary administration practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of performance management programs and incentive pay practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of pertinent law and regulations such as Civil Rights Act, Equal Pay Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Americans with Disabilities Act and personnel administration theories and practices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
