    Job Opportunity:  Director of Pharmacy

    The Director of Pharmacy will be responsible for the oversight of the pharmacy department including operations, finances, regulatory compliance and services in conjunction with hospital policies, standard practices of profession and state and federal laws.  This role will provide standardization within the practice of pharmacy services across the Saint Luke’s Community Hospitals.  The incumbent will be responsible for providing direction and support for all regional and staff pharmacists in the Kansas market of the SLCH’s.  The position will report directly to the CEO/CNO or designee.


    Essential Functions:

    • Upholds the values and mission of the organization
    • Will lead in development and operations of pharmacy services including planning, build out and implementation of pharmacy services
    • Oversee pharmacy regulatory readiness
    • Manage timely acquisition, renewal, and maintenance of pharmacy related licenses
    • Direct and implement the build out of pharmacy in new facilities
    • Participate in interviewing/hiring pharmacy positions within the market
    • Ensure the appropriateness/accuracy of policies and procedures related to pharmacy and approval through appropriate committees
    • Leads in collaboration with the partner, purchasing and finance departments in inventory management/cost containment
    • Oversee the work of the Pharmacists to ensure responsibilities are being met
    • Assist and lead with the implementation of pharmacy related systems (i.e. Automated Medication Stations, EMR)
    • Maintains and demonstrates accurate first-hand knowledge of professional pharmacist practices and techniques compounding and dispensing medication in the proper manner
    • Collaborates with nursing to maintain specific policies and procedures for the appropriate administration of medication to patients
    • Ensures formulary is current approved
    • Collaborates with Medical Directors
    • Leads Pharmacy, Nutrition, Therapeutics Committee for all SLCH’s
    • Participates in staff pharmacist role/responsibilities at least 50% of time.


    Minimum Qualifications

    • BS in Pharmacy or a Pharm D degree
    • Minimum five years’ pharmacy experience
    • Two years’ experience directly supervising employees in a pharmacy setting, strongly preferred
    • Two years’ experience with electronic pharmacy management systems
    • Demonstrable proficiency with computer software

    Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

    Physical Demands:  Work primarily sedentary in nature.  No special physical demands are required to perform the work.  Work involves sitting, standing, kneeling, and stooping.

    Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed in an office setting that is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
