    Job OpportunityController

    We are looking for a Controller to work in our headquarters in Downtown Houston.  The Controller will provide leadership and oversight of Tandem’s financial operations, analyzing results and identifying cost savings and process improvement.  The Controller will have direct responsibility and managerial oversight of accounting, accounts payable, tax returns, capital projects, fixed assets, as well as the functional areas of financial reporting, budgeting and reimbursement.  This role will provide support to the CFO, Market-Level CEOs and other members of our regional and corporate teams assisting in the achievement of Tandem’s strategic objectives and optimizing the performance of our company.  The successful candidate should have a strong focus on quality and collaboration, with a servant heart and the ability to create value across the company. 


    Essential Functions

    • Upholds the values and mission of the Tandem Hospital Partners family
    • Responsible for general accounting function, financial reporting, internal controls, including preparation of monthly and year-end consolidated financial report and monthly general ledger maintenance
    • Prepare complex financial statements and reports to determine financial position, results of operations, cash flows and other financial trends
    • Directs preparation of all financial reports and analyses, and other government regulatory agency reports, including year-end GAAP and Statutory audits
    • Facilitate optimum performance of the accounting function, ensuring timely and accurate financial information for business decision-making
    • Respond to governmental agencies, when required, for questioned reports
    • Remain current on all healthcare regulations and standards as it relates to finance
    • Accountable for the development, implementation and evaluation of department policies and procedures in order to ensure accurate and efficient methods of accounting and appropriate internal controls
    • Create and operate a regional accounting function that will support all Tandem facilities
    • Oversee the proper indexing, storage and retrieval of all accounting documents
    • Develops annual budget to ensure appropriate allocation of resources to support operations and meet department and/or organizational goals
    • Implements and maintains systems and functions to achieve financial objectives and efficient operations
    • Fosters positive team collaboration and staff development to facilitate efficient operation and employee engagement
    • Actively engages in professional development to maintain current skills and knowledge of environmental trends, clinical developments, best practices and business opportunities




    Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field required
    • Master’s degree in Business preferred
    • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) required, certification in the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) preferred
    • 10 years of progressive experience in managing and administering accounting, financial planning, and budgeting, of which 5 years is in a senior position; healthcare or hospital specific accounting experience strongly preferred
    • 5 years’ managerial experience
    • Experience in the design and implementation of financial systems technology required
    • Ability to establish relationships and build rapport with all levels of staff, external clients and vendors to define business requirements and goals, and to identify and resolve issues

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Ability to analyze and communicate financial data to stakeholders
    • Extensive knowledge of GAAP, state and federal regulations, tax laws and other regulatory bodies required to produce financial statements
    • Demonstrates strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to perform presentations to various groups, including Board of Directors
    • Possess strong computer abilities in the use of software packages such as MS Excel, Word, Access and computer-based accounting packages
    • Ability to exercise considerable judgement and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships
    • Ability to make decisions under stressful situations
    • Demonstrates high integrity and compatibility with the organization’s values
    • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
